Staten Island’s District 13 Just Won’t Settle
Staten Island’s new 13th district is in dispute over how to fill the newly vacant Judicial Seat. The 13th District makes up all of Staten Island and a small piece of western Brooklyn.

Democrats have filed a lawsuit asking a judge to keep the election for that seat in the soon-to-be-former Second Judicial District, which the Island shares with heavily Democratic Brooklyn.
Republicans called the Democrats’ lawsuit a ploy to maintain control over judgeships for another year, and asked the judge to move the election to the newly created Island district.
